Whitewater, Your Opinion Matters!

POLCO

Brainstorm with the Community and Vote on Policy Topics. The Common Council needs your input and they have initiated a new way to invite citizen feedback. The City of Whitewater has partnered with Polco to receive real-time feedback from citizens on issues facing Whitewater.

What is Polco?
Polco is a platform designed to increase civic engagement, improve government transparency, and inform municipal governments of constituents’ input which, in turn, will help better guide public policy. Polco’s core team has collectively worked at Amazon, Google, overseas embassies, and the White House. The great thing about partnering with Polco is supporting a business with a Whitewater connection. Polco was funded by the Whitewater CDA grant and they started using the Innovation Center of the Whitewater University Technology Park in May 2016 for a satellite office and have been growing at an exceptional pace working with over 22 governmental entities including Dane and Walworth Counties, along with the municipalities of Madison, Verona, Monona, Middleton, Sun Prairie and DeForest.

This easy-to-use site allows the City to create quick polls of citizens on any number of topics, such as the community’s desire for additional amenities, voting on economic development opportunities and feedback on policy issues facing the Common Council. Voting on topics is quick and easy and requires a one-time user registration. Residents can become more active and informed participants in the political process by voicing their views to municipal leaders and other citizens. Polco makes voicing opinions accessible, easy, and convenient.

The Polco system uses the local voter database verification to break down responses by those living in Whitewater and those living outside of the City. The polling results can be shared with the Common Council and the public to give the community insight on how their input impacts decision-making. Polco is committed to a strict privacy policy where they only share aggregated, de-identified results. This means, a resident’s detailed data and votes are never shared with the City or given to a third party. If a question allows the option for additional comments, citizens can choose to share their name or remain anonymous. The decision is up to you! This is a free service to all community members.
