Discover Whitewater Series Marathon September 22, 2019

DWS

In conjunction with the Greater Whitewater Committee, the City is proud to be one of the over seventy sponsors for this year’s 7th annual Discover Whitewater Series: Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay, 5K, and W3 Fit Kid Shuffle. Join us Sunday, September 22, 2019 for a full day of fun, wellness, fitness and competition. Whether you are an event walker, casual jogger, serious runner, volunteer or spectator, there is something for everyone.

The Half Marathon/Half Marathon Relay will start at 8 a.m. and the 5K will start at 8:15 a.m. on Walworth Avenue. All events will finish at the Whitewater High School. The USA Track and Field certified courses are designed to take you on a journey to “Discover Whitewater” and enjoy the scenery, businesses and educational establishments. Participants will see firsthand the hospitality our community and City have to offer along with some of the City’s most beautiful focal points including the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Fairhaven’s Prairie Village, the Whitewater Industrial Park and the Whitewater University Technology Park. Refer to www.runwhitewater.com for a listing of all event start times.

Enclosed is a map that highlights the event routes and street closures. Several streets will be closed and parking around the race courses will be limited and restricted to allow participants to safely navigate the course. Police and support teams will be on all courses to enforce closures and parking, assist in traffic management and ensure overall safety. Roads open upon completion of events. In case of any emergency, public safety vehicles will have immediate access to homes and businesses necessary. Safety will always remain our top priority. Please share this information if you have tenants/renters and are along the route.

We encourage all to get involved and register as an event participant, volunteer on site and/or along the courses, as a spectator or come to the Awards Ceremony where the Whippet City Boosters will be serving food from 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. In addition to food and non-alcoholic drinks, there will be a DJ for all to enjoy. We encourage the whole family to celebrate!

Proceeds from the events will go to the Bethel House, Whitewater LEADS, W3 (local wellness organization), Whitewater Unified School District (for academic excellence) and the J-Hawk Aquatic Center.

If you are interested in participating, volunteering or if you have any questions about the Discover Whitewater Series Event, contact the event office at 920.728.0662 or visit the event website www.runwhitewater.com. We look forward to seeing you on September 22, 2019!

Sincerely,

Cameron L. Clapper
